Chase Tkach and Tanner Eno, students at Coronation School, have both earned positions on Alberta provincial rodeo teams and will be travelling with their teams to their respective National Finals Rodeos.
Tkach who is in the eighth grade, will be travelling with his teammates on the Alberta Provincial National Junior High rodeo team to Lebanon, Tennessee June 18-24 to compete in the National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR) in the bare back, saddle bronc, chute dogging and bull riding competitions.
Eno is in grade 12 and will be heading to Gillette, Wyoming July 16-22 where he will be competing in the National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) in the bull riding competition.
Contestants from 43 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia will be represented at these rodeo’s, the largest High School and Junior High School rodeos in the world.
In addition to competing for monetary prizes, there are college scholarships and the chance to be named NJHFR or NHSFR World Champion. To earn this title, contestants must finish in the top 20 – based on their combined times/scores in the first two rounds – to advance to Saturday evening’s final round. World champions will then be determined based on their three-round combined times/scores.
