We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Nellie Rider – a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Wed. June 19, 2019 at the age of 72.
Nellie was born June 9, 1947 at the Stettler Hospital to Julian and Meryle (Johnstone) Chinn.
She lived her life in Stettler County, northwest of Stettler, Alta. near Buffalo Lake.
Nellie was a reserved woman with her life revolving around her home and family.
Nellie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Oris Rider; daughters Karen (Red) Sorensen, Nancy Rider and Jane Rider and her son Murray Rider (Marylou Macasa).
She was Nana to her precious grandchildren Breann Sorensen, Mykayla Sorensen (JD Anderson), Morgan Sorensen (Jessie Bennett), Mackenzie Sorensen, Baileigh Sorensen (Jens Lohmann), Willow Sorensen, McKenna Rider, Kaileb Rider, Gracia Pelle, Anekin Pelle and Damaris Pelle.
Nellie is also survived by her brother Frank Chinn and sister-in-law Faye Chinn as well as Frank and Faye’s children Matt,
Claire and Chrissy; daughter-in-law Andrea Pitcher; special friends Lee and Dwain Ball and family; nieces, nephews; other relatives and dear friends.
Nellie was predeceased by her mother Meryle Chinn, father Julian Chinn, stepmother Lorraine Chinn and father and mother-in-law Jack and Alma Rider.
A gathering of family and friends “come and go social” will be held on Sat. July 13, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stettler Funeral Home in Stettler, Alta.
Everyone is welcome.
