As students head back to school, there is one essential school supply that requires no shopping and doesn’t cost a penny – it’s a library card.
Studies show children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning.
This year, Disney’s The Incredibles are Library Card Sign-up Month honourary chairs, helping to promote the value of a library card and bring attention to the many ways libraries and librarians transform lives and communities through education.
Libraries around the region are competing to sign up the largest percentage of new members, so drop in to the library, say hello and let us show you some of the cool things you can access with your own library card.
The Stettler Public Library is planning an exciting year with lots of access to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) programs, in-person homework help, gaming, and technology workshops for all ages.
The library also makes digital tools such as 3D printing, virtual reality, Arduino & Raspberry Pi available in an environment where staff and other users are available to help get you started.
Read and Rhyme
For our littlest members, the Read and Rhyme program helps children develop and sustain a lifelong love of reading while helping parents to prepare their children for school.
Read and Rhyme offers a great place to connect with other parents, pick up books to take home, and spend enjoyable time with your children.
