Knowles

Shannon Knowles was born on May 19, 1955 to Lois and Wayne Ballinger.

She grew up in Endiang and in December of 1972 married Lyle Knowles of Byemoor.

Lyle and Shannon had four children which they raised on their farm at Byemoor. Shannon’s children were her absolute pride and joy and she dedicated herself to being a mom like no other.

Always on the run to hockey, dance, baseball, and 4-H, she made it look easy. She was overjoyed when she became a grandmother and somehow found the time to still be an amazing mom, and also rarely miss any activity of her 10 grandchildren.

Shannon became “Grandma Shannon” to many of her children’s and grandchildren’s friends and family because she was just that good at it.

She loved her people fiercely and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

The heart that loved her family and friends beyond measure is the heart that has taken her away.

Shannon is survived by her husband Lyle Knowles of Byemoor; daughters: Denny (Ryan) Dettmer of Trochu, Jennifer (Cory) Dittmann of Big Valley and Katie (Derrick) Campbell of Hanna; son Jonathon (Raelynn) Knowles of Byemoor; grandchildren: Turner and Nash Dettmer, Tristin, Leland, Milo and Violet Dittmann, Jorgie, Scarlett and Lyla Campbell, Wyatt Knowles; mother Lois Ballinger of Stettler; mother-in-law May Knowles of Stettler; sisters Dolores (Gary) Pearson of Stettler; and Vicki Ballinger (Brian Abram) of Stettler; sisters- in-law Audrey (Lloyd) Hausher of Duchess, Carol (Terry) Bradford of BC and Lorna Hayden of Gull Lake; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends and neighbours.

Shannon was predeceased by her father Wayne Ballinger; brother Greg Ballinger; father-in-law Ed Knowles and brother-in-law Melvin Knowles.

Donations in memory of Shannon are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S, Byemoor Cemetery Club or a charity of your choice.
