And no agenda, jabbing fingers, or raised fists—just county landowners and ratepayers interacting with each other and touching base with elected county officials and staff.
No microphones, slide shows, videos or speeches.
This was an Kneehill County annual ratepayer and resident meeting, held this year at the Sunnyslope Hall June 12. Billed as an opportunity to meet staff and councillors and learn about the county’s extensive array of projects and services, a sister meeting is scheduled for June 20 at the Three Hills Community Center.
In addition to a buffet meal, the 90 Sunnyslope participants could meet representatives of Wind Concerns Kneehill County, a recently formed group that actively collects information and orchestrates opposition to a proposed 50+ wind turbine facility west of Three Hills.
This group now has another target to joust against: the possibility of a 1.2 million solar panel facility spread over more than 2,000 fenced acres in the Torrington area.
Chief Administrative Officer CAO Mike Haugen pointed to the value of the Sunnyslope meeting.
“We appreciate these annual meetings because they give ratepayers an opportunity to learn about our services, meet staff and councillors, as well as allowing us to hear first hand many suggestions and concerns.”
