Helmut Klassen

Helmut Klassen of Stettler, Alta. passed away peacefully at the age of 75 years on Oct. 27, 2022.

Helmut was born on July 19, 1947 in Nuremberg, Germany. He along with his parents Abe and Katie, and his sister Marge immigrated to Canada in 1952 where they settled in Clearbrook, BC.

Helmut was a welder working mostly for lumber mills in the Lower Mainland. He was forced to retire at the age of 50 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.

After his retirement, he decided to relocate to Alberta to be closer to his children.

Helmut is survived by his loving wife Gloria, his sister Marge Frantz (Mike), his ever-doting daughter Kristina, son Darryl (Telly), grandchildren Krysta, Mandi, Lynsey, Montana, Ryker, Aliyah, Levi, Zoe, Talon, Adam, Matthew, Ethan, Pierce and Keona as well as great-grandchildren Ashton, Aiden, Hunter, Callie and Liam; and daughter April.

The family would like to thank Points West Living Stettler for taking such good care of Helmut with a special thanks to Ella and Alley Cat.

A funeral service will be held on Wed. Nov. 9, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Stettler Funeral Home, 4707-70th Street., Stettler, Alta. Reception to follow.
