King Charles III’s coronation pomp and tradition took place Sat. May 6 in London, U.K. amid thousands of royal watchers and spectators, as well as being broadcasted throughout the world. Prince Charles ascended to the throne after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Celebrations also took place throughout Canada, a Commonwealth country of the British Empire. The Town of Coronation in Alberta, home to the ECA Review newspaper, was named after the coronation of King Charles’ great-grandfather, King George V whose coronation took place June 22, 1911, by the CPR when it reached the new town in September 1911.
