It is of great sadness we announce the passing of Della Jones (McPhee) on Sept. 20, 2021, at Coronation Long Term Care.
She is survived by her loving husband Bob of 57 years, children Jay (Patricia) of Bashaw and their children Jasmin and Zane; Lila (Keith) of Stettler and their children Korey, Dayna and Alyssa; Janetta (Scott) of Stettler and their children Jessica and Drew, and sister-in-law Audrey (Randy) Glasier of Coronation.
Della was predeceased by her parents Dougal and Muriel McPhee, in-laws Frank and Mary Jones, sisters-in-law Gloria and Pat, brothers-in-law Albert, Casey and Trevor.
Della took her education at various one-room schoolhouses in the area and finished her Grade 12 in Byemoor, Alta.
She continued her post-secondary at Olds College achieving her Home Economics diploma. This was not the end of her endeavours, as she continued on to attend Key Secretarial School in Red Deer.
She worked various jobs in Stettler, Alta. over the years and then settled down as a homemaker, as this was her passion.
Della was soft-spoken, gentle and very kind. This is how she is remembered by many.
She loved volunteering, attending social functions and visiting with neighbours and friends.
Growing up Della was an active member of many 4-H clubs, which spurred a love for all animals she had on the farm. She could train anything, including her cats to do tricks. She belonged to the beef, sewing, and gardening clubs. This skill set served her well in years to come. Between helping her dad on the farm, she also worked hard in the house and garden.
Della was quite the seamstress, gardener and cook. Quite often she was found in the kitchen whipping up her favourite creations which was shared with anyone and everyone.
She married the love of her life, Bob in 1964. To this union, they had three children, which she doted on non-stop.
Della and Bob worked very hard on the farm, constantly expanding it. When Della wasn’t helping in the field, gardening or running the household, she loved any new craft that came out.
She expertly learned many new things such as ceramics, glass etching and reupholstering chairs just to name a few.
Most of all, she instilled the value of hard work in her children.
Della and Bob managed to take a few adventures over the years and on each trip, they would stop and see some friends and relatives along the way, as a trip was pointless without this!
Grandchildren later became her greatest joy. She looked forward to visits from them and hearing about all their accomplishments. Her heart burst with pride each time! She enjoyed attending all things the grandchildren did. She always had hugs to give out and with each hug exclaimed how tall the kids were getting.
Della will be forever loved, forever remembered and forever cherished.
Private funeral services will be held at the Byemoor Cemetery, Byemoor, Alta.
Memorial donations in memory of Della may be made to charity of your choice.
