James, Margaret Marion (Brown)

Margaret Marion (Brown) James was born at home on the farm at Lauderdale on July 27, 1922.  She attended school at Lauderdale, completing her grade 12 in Castor.  She continued her education at Lamont Public Hospital becoming an RN in 1944. After grad, she moved and practiced in Vancouver and Duncan, BC.
Margaret married John Deacon James on June 8, 1949 and moved to the farm at Bulwark. John and Margaret loved the farm and raised five children. In 1975 they moved into their new home in Castor and became very involved in the community and church activities.  Margaret spent many wonderful hours volunteering and helping people any way she could. She also lived her life for her grandchildren and seemed to always have a few around making each one feel special.  Margaret was predeceased by her husband John (1985), her parents James Ernest Brown (1965) and Bertha Mable Brown (1988), her brother Merton (1987), her in-laws George  James (1976), Banfield James (1955), Percy James (1969), Helen James (2003), Eileen James (2007), and Tom James (2010). She is survived  by her family Diane (Roger) Wiart, Glenda (Richard) Ries, Haley, Liam, and Damon, Nancy (Vance) Schilling, Deacon, Marae, Tate and Ethan, Keith (Lindy) Wiart, Claire, Anna, and Sophia,  Dana Wiart, Trevor (Judy) James, Aron (Terra) James,  Cade, Codi, and Cort,  Neal (Lori) James, Kevin James, Tara (Greg) Davis, Lane, Colin and Heidi, Paul James (Shari  Hagstrom), Craig James, Rhonda (Patrick) Whitten, Chelsea (Thorren) Koopmans, Seijah  and Myelle, Brock Whitten, Tana Whitten,  Ian (Sandra) James, Michael  James  and Marcy James. Her sisters Doris Thomson and Kay (Howard) Jones, and sister-in-law Marj Brown and brother and sister- in-law Des and Janet James. Margaret died peacefully in her sleep at long term care in Castor on December 3, 2010. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
A funeral service for the late Margaret Marion James was held on Monday, December 6, 2010 at the Knox United Church with Reverend Barbara Zimmerman officiating. Family members Chelsea Koopmans, Glenda Ries, Nancy Schilling, Dana Wiart and Keith Wiart gave loving tributes in word and song. Congregational hymns were On Eagles Wings and How Great Thou Art accompanied by musician Veronica Weber.  Interment will take place at a later date beside her loving husband John Deacon James.
Following the service family and friends joined together in the Castor Community Hall for a time of fellowship and sharing memories with luncheon served by Knox United Church Ladies. Memorial donations in loving memory of Margaret Marion James are gratefully accepted to Alzheimer Society, Knox United Church Memorial Fund or Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital Foundation c/o Parkview Funeral Chapels & Crematorium, Box 186, Castor, Alberta T0C 0X0, who were entrusted with the care and arrangements.
