Re: The author of that letter titled, Democratic freedom in jeopardy, Aug. 1, pg. 7.
The Duck (I call him the duck because he has ducked and dodged taking responsibility for his actions his whole life, in my opinion.
For example, he dodged the draft five times during the Vietnam War. His father and grandfather also avoided military service and none of his children have ever served in the military.
He even denigrated one of America’s most famous Vietnam war heroes, Senator John McCain for being captured. McCain was shot down over North Vietnam and brutally mistreated by his captors.
Where was The Duck while 58,000 Americans lost their lives in that misguided war? Why——he was swimming, golfing, playing tennis, seducing women and making money, like creating a phoney university and buying run-down tenement buildings to rent to low-income folks.
While married three times, he cheated on all his wives even when his wives were pregnant, and he even stated (caught on camera) that it was okay to “grab women by their private parts”. In my opinion, he is a “misogynist” who views women as inferior to men.
His whole life has been predicated on telling one lie or conspiracy theory after another in my opinion because he knows (like all liars and dictators) “gullible” folks will believe a lie if they are told the same lie long enough.
For example, he constantly refers to President Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton as “crooked”, yet he is the one convicted.
Some of his most ardent supporters, Rudy Giuliani, Sydney Powell, Alex Jones, Bannon, Mr. Pillow, etc., have suffered massive fines, lawsuits and jail time for spreading lies, conspiracy theories and misinformation.
Heck! Some of his followers believe Trump is the messiah. Remember David Koresh and the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas in 1993?
Alex Jones, the head of Infowar, was sued for spreading lies and conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook Massacre that occurred in 2012. He claimed the 20 children and six adults did not die.
He claimed that the event never happened. He claimed the parents and the liberals (Democrats) faked the whole story in order to attack conservatives and the National Rifle Association.
We have seen “some” of our politicians and pastors associating with some of the same “low-life characters”, in my opinion, that we have seen in the US (Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, Nick Fuentes, Neo Nazis, KKK, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Christian white nationalists, separatists, etc).
To be blunt: There isn’t anything positive with folks supporting violence and fascism. Remember that Hitler and his allies were responsible for the death of 50 to 100 million people during World War 2 (WW2).
The KKK is associated with enforcing Black Codes, Jim Crow Laws, sundown towns, segregation, violence and death to thousands of black people from the 1870s to the early 1960s.
Why should any of our politicians and pastors associate with folks who support violence and authoritarian rule?
Religious and political zealots are never satisfied until they can “impose” their way of life on others.
For example, look at where theocracies exist (Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia). A theocracy is a form of government ruled by political and religious zealots.
Is that what we want? Do we want to be controlled by religious and political zealots?
Therefore, we should be on guard against so-called “populists” who claim authoritarian rule will solve our problems.
Remember: Hitler was elected and once in power, he imposed dictatorial rule in Germany. Consequences? WW2.
Putin was elected to office in Russia nearly 20 years ago, and look what has happened under his dictatorship (death and imprisonment to anyone who opposes him). He wants to re-create the old Soviet Empire (USSR).
So far, he has annexed Crimea and four eastern provinces in Ukraine in 2014.
Now he is trying to conquer Ukraine. If he succeeds, he will then go after the former Warsaw Pact countries, in my opinion.
Remember: Hitler promised England and France that he only wanted to occupy Austria and Czechoslovakia, and Putin claims he only wants Ukraine back in Russia.
Appeasing Hitler did not work nor will appeasement succeed in stopping Putin.
