The Hughenden Public School (HPS) Senior Girls Volleyball team travelled to Paradise Valley to play a two-day tournament.

On Fri. Sept. 21, the team played three games, losing one. Saturday the team lost both games.

“We definitely became closer as a team,” said Tasia Goodwin, when asked about the team’s performance.

The girls began practices even before school started in September, and have been working hard.

Coach Beatty said, “I have every intention of making areas, then zones,” when asked about his expectations of the girls at this point in the season. “We have a good group of girls.”

The Junior Boys Volleyball team travelled to Blessed Sacrament in Wainwright on Mon. Sept. 24, playing two games.

Our Wildcat team lost to Wainwright Junior High in two straight sets, 7 – 25 and 15 – 25.

In the second game, the team unfortunately lost in two straight: 21 -25 and 12 – 25.

“We played very well,” said player William Stringer. “We did everything right but they were just better”.

This year’s junior boys team is made up of seven Grade 7 players and one Grade 8 player.
