Troy Slemp was surprised with a $5,000 cheque presented to him by Jen Kohle of ATB Financial during the Castor Atom’s game on Mon., Mar. 14 at the Castor Arena in recognition of his winning one of the five Home Ice Hero awards issued in the province. JD Johnson of Halkirk along with various local hockey and community members nominated Slemp for the award. Slemp coaches two hockey teams and has three children currently active in the sport.
