Elaine Hennel
1938 – 2019

Elaine passed away at the Stettler Hospital on Aug. 23, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

She grew up in Botha and attended Botha School Grades 1 – 12.

In 1956, she married Henry Hennel and they made their home on the farm south of Stettler.

Elaine taught many students piano lessons.

She planned Christmas and spring concerts at Linda Hall.

Besides the Linda Hall Community, she shared her musical talents with the Stettler community – composing songs honouring Stettler, playing for the Remembrance Day services and playing at Senior Lodges with the Happy Gang Choir, as well as numerous funerals.

Elaine was part of a group called “The Band” which eventually became “The Treble Makers”. This popular group entertained throughout Alberta and eventually recorded records.

She also played with a band called “The Three Amigos” when she lived in Paragon Place.

Elaine belonged to the Royal Purple for 60 years and was installed as the Supreme Honoured Royal Lady of Canada (National President).

In this role, she visited Lodges throughout Canada.

The church was important to Elaine and she was involved with the choir and was director of the United Church Bar Harbour Camp for over 20 years.

Elaine was an amazing musician who loved people.

Her music touched so many, she made this world a better place. Elaine is survived by her loving family: husband of 63 years in December, Henry Hennel of Stettler; son Marty (Carol) Hennel of Calgary; daughter Shelley Jones (Raymond Skelton) of Stettler; very dear fourlegged companion Lolli.

She also loves to mourn, honourary grandchildren Nikki Hilker (Matt) and Kent (Heidi) Hennel; grandchildren: Misty (Chris) Ventnor, Shaye Skelton and Terrance Jones.

Also greatgrandchildren: Liam Bonnett, Braxton Ventnor and Blake Ventnor.

Surviving her are sister Helen (Jim) Dunk of Red Deer; brother Dave Kenney of Prince Albert, Sask.; sisters-inlaw: Sylvia (John) Walters, Marion (Glen) Collin and Joan Hennel; many very special nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; other family members and many dear friends; and all the Clubs and Organizations that Elaine was a large part of throughout her life.

Elaine was predeceased by her parents Roy and Edna Kenney; infant daughter Beth; son-in-law Murray Jones; sister-in-law Judy Kenney; brothers-inlaw: Harvey, Norman and Raymond; granddaughter Alisha Hennel, nephew Cameron Collin and greatniece Nicole Raho.

A funeral service for Elaine Hennel was held on Thurs. Aug. 29, 2019 at the Stettler United Church with Jan Richardson officiating.

Elaine was laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery, Stettler.
