D. Charles Gyde “Chuck” Heaven
1946 – 2023
Dr. Charles Gyde Heaven, beloved husband of Wanda Heaven, passed peacefully into the Lord’s presence at the Stettler Hospital on Sept. 16, 2023, at the age of 77 years.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Wanda of 35 years; daughters Leanne (Mark) Heaven and Linsey (Sean) McKechnie; son Brad (Pam) McKecknie; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; father-in-law Ed Fenske; brother-in-law Dwayne (Jean) Fenske; nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Helen; his younger brother Richard at the age of eight; mother-in-law Dagnie, and his precious grandson Lukus.
After high school, Chuck entered Medical School at the U of A in Edmonton where he received his medical degree and started his medical practice.
After a few different locations Chuck settled into Stettler and continued his practice here until his retirement.
Chuck’s time in the medical field can be characterized by a passion for helping people and a dedicated work ethic. He loved his work as a physician and was very dedicated to his patients and staff.
He will be remembered for his love for his family, his encouragement and supporting others.
Although being a physician took up a lot of Chuck’s time, he did make time for many hobbies during his life.
Chuck had a huge love of flying, photography, badminton, pickle ball, swimming, bike riding, camping and definitely not least his love of their winter home in Arizona.
As his health started to fail, he still pushed himself to get out and walk and many days he would walk a few kilometres.
He was a man who lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank the nurses and healthcare aides at the Stettler Hospital, the Oncology Department in Red Deer and especially for the wonderful compassionate care from his doctor, Dr. Kim Chapman.
Chuck never wanted the spotlight and so at his request, a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
If so inclined donations in memory of Chuck are gratefully accepted to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Stettler, Alta. or a charity of your own choice.
