What a game played by the Hughenden Jets and the Wainwright Bisons!

On Wed. Feb. 27, 2019, our own Hughenden/Hardisty Midget Jets travelled to Wainwright to begin a best-of-three playoff series.

The Jets boys played excellent during the first period, scoring three goals.

Sasha Robitaille (#8), scored the first two and Ashton Johannesson (#18) scored the third.

The team most definitely celebrated a great deal before the next period but during the second period, they let their guard down, letting Wainwright score a few goals.

During the third period, the Jets got back into the game when Ethan Dambrowski (#7) scored one more goal.

Overall the boys put up a good fight against Wainwright but they still lost 4 – 5 in the last seven minutes of the third period.

“Well, we just didn’t show up tonight, but it’s time to forget about it and beat Wainwright on Saturday,” said Ethan Holte, when asked about his thoughts on their game that evening.

Hockey mom Becky Small had similar thoughts. “Our boys played well. They’ve played Wainwright seven games so far this year and lost only two, so I think they will bring their A-game on Saturday and bring home the win.”

Game two and three will have occurred over the weekend.

The Jets will play their last provincial series against Killam on March 7.
