SUNDBERG, Hazel Mae
March 26th, 1916 – May 5th, 2013

Hazel passed away peacefully in the Victoria Hospice.  Hazel was born in Consort, Ab. and lived in Coronation, Ab.  When Hazel was only 2 yrs. old,  her Father, Jack Maxfield, passed away during the 1918 flu epidemic.  Hazel’s Mother, Inez Perkins, remarried to Bill Graydon in Coronation, who moved his new family to Calgary, Ab.  where Hazel in later years, attended Western Canada High School.
Hazel met and married Lawrence George Sundberg in May 1937.  During the few years in Calgary Sons Bob and Don were born.  During the War the family moved to Victoria, B.C. where Larry worked for 2 ½ yrs. at Yarrow’s Ship Yard.  After this, they returned to Calgary where Daughter Linda was born and Larry set up his own shop.  In August, 1980 Hazel and Larry returned to Victoria, B.C. to start their retirement years.  After Larry passed away in July 1985 Hazel kept busy knitting and participating in the “SHARPS” seniors’ group activities.  Hazel is particularly proud of her contributions of hand-made “preemie” caps which were donated to Victoria Hospitals and “people dolls” which were donated to the Crige in Victoria.
Hazel was predeased by son Bob (Maureen) in Jan. 2011 (Calgary, AB.).  Hazel will be missed by Son Don (Vi) (Sicamous, B.C.), Daughter Linda (Eugene), (Lacombe, AB). 8 Grandchildren and 14 Great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Many thanks go to the compassionate and wonderfully skilled medical staff at Victoria Hospice who made Hazel’s Final Journey so peaceful.
At Hazel’s request there will be no formal service.  Hazel asked that donations be made to the Victoria Hospice Society.
