James Glenn Haugen, formerly of Youngstown, Ab. passed away peacefully on Thurs. July 6, 2017 at the age of 93 years.
Glenn was born on Oct. 1, 1923, the son of Gustav and Gunda Haugen of the Naco/Wiste area.
On May 6, 1946 he married Pearl Ethel Signer of Owlseye, Ab. and began farming in the Consort area.
In 1952 they moved to Youngstown where he worked for Special Areas as a foreman on the bridge crew.
Here they raised their family of four children.
In later years he and Pearl moved to Hanna where they enjoyed four years together until Pearl’s passing.
At a young age Glenn made his choice to walk in God’s pathway, continuing until his final day.
Glenn is survived by his three sons and one daughter, Rolland of Castor, Gayle of Castor, Lloyd of Edmonton and Gilbert (Evelyn) of Hanna.
He is also survived by four granddaughters, Jolene, Lynn, Sherry and Lucy; several great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
He also leaves behind one brother, Lloyd of Norway; brother-in-law, Wallace (Ruth) Signer; cousin, Walter Fossum; nephews, Martin (Cindy), Bruce (Kathy), Lawrence (Belinda); niece, Irene; as well as other family and friends.
Glenn was predeceased by his loving wife, Pearl; his parents, Gustav and Gunda Haugen; his brothers, Melvin, Alf, Chris and Arnold; his sisters, Thelma and Edith; and several younger siblings as well as his nephew, Morgan who passed away July 3, 2017 in Alvin, Texas at the age of 62.
A funeral service to honour Glenn Haugen will be held on Fri., July 28, 2017 at the Youngstown Community Hall, Youngstown, Ab. at 11 a.m.
