Hanna’s annual volunteer award presented

The Town of Hanna hosted their annual Volunteer Appreciation evening Tues. April 18 in partnership with Lynks, Volunteer Alberta and the Government of Alberta.

The 1st Annual Gordon and Bernice Pincombe Memorial Community Volunteerism Award was presented to Carrol Orr to recognize her years of volunteering with several organizations in Hanna. Gordon and Bernice Pincombe’s daughter Betty Ann Moench attended and presented the award.

The Wright family, formerly of Hanna, initiated the award to remember the late Gordon and Bernice Pincombe and recognize them for their legacy of volunteerism.

The evening was open to all as an opportunity for the community to gather and celebrate the accomplishments of dedicated volunteers in Hanna.

The night also featured presentations from 10 local groups showcasing the work their group does and sharing about how others can join them.

The presenting organizations were: Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 Hanna, Kinette Club of Hanna, Hanna Elks Lodge No. 45, Hanna and District Historical Society, Hanna Food Bank, Hanna Agricultural Society, Centre Street Thrift Store, Hanna and District Youth Club, Hanna Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and Harvest Sky Animal Rescue.
