Ashley Watt of Vermilion can’t help but groan as the rope bounces off the top of the calf’s head during the Ladies Breakaway Roping event at the Hanna Indoor Pro Rodeo on Sept. 13.  The two day event was well attended by locals and fellow Albertans who enjoyed many other events, such as a BBQ, street market, chili cook off and a Western Trade Show.

Knox Fergeson rounds the barrels as he competes in the Stick Horse Races at the Hanna Pro Rodeo on Sept. 13.  Seven little cowboys and cowgirls competed in the event.

Cheryl spent most of her childhood in Stettler, growing up on a quarter section north of town. After graduating from Stettler Composite High School she moved to Calgary where she worked in various industries, attended The University of Calgary and raised a family.

She enjoyed volunteering and contributed in a variety of ways, such as writing articles for the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and covering charitable events as a photographer.

She moved back to Stettler in 2023 where she still has family.
