The Hanna Community Garden group approached council to request support in their application for funding from the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta.
The foundation provides grants to qualified registered charities or municipalities.
The foundation may provide funds if a group without charitable status applies with a Declaration of Affiliation to a registered charity or municipality. The qualified donee can then redistribute the money to the applicant for the approved project.
The Hanna Community Garden is seeking $10,000 to help cover the cost of applying triple mix soil to the community garden to improve soil quality, making it lighter thus allowing water to flow through more easily.
Council authorized the mayor and the CAO to sign the Declaration of Affiliation – Qualified Donee and Agent between the Town of Hanna and the Hanna Community Garden, with the town acting as the receiver of the funds and redistributing them to the group.
