Good Friday Walk of the Cross in Forestburg

“Count your blessings, name them one by one… count your blessings, see what God has done” was the beginning refrain for the Walk of the Cross on Good Friday, April 22. Over 50 members and several pastors from area churches sang hymns and joined in for the 28th annual walk from the Big Knife Villa to the Forestburg Community Centre.

The Good Friday service at the hall included readings and hymns with the gathering of more than 150 people.
Donations from the event go to charities including the Flagstaff Food Bank. Many years ago, a small group of Hastings Coulee ladies approached the clergy of Forestburg, with the idea for the Good Friday service. Deloras Kroetsch, one of the original organizers, compared the painful experience of Jesus with the sharing of the burden by many people in this year’s Walk.
