Fletcher, Vern: Forever by his bride’s side

Shirley Fletcher, June 22, 1939 – Aug. 29, 2015, and

Vern Fletcher, Oct. 8, 1936 – Sept. 1, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that we say ‘bye for now’ to two of the most wonderful people whose lives we were blessed to share.

They will be forever loved and remembered by two sons, Barry (Angela) and Dwayne (Nola); daughter, Wendy Berry; six grandchildren: Kristen and Shane Berry, Brittany, Justine, Steven and Taryn Fletcher; Shirley’s family: two sisters, “Bubs” Gollan, Donna (Fred) Taylor; brother, Donnie (Gina) Munro and Vern’s sister, Vera Proud; five nieces and nephews: Brady, Kama (Neil), Ryan, Bev and Wayne; extended family and many friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, John and Hilda Munro. Vern was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Mabel Fletcher.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all their friends and the amazing community for all the support in so many ways.  Mom fought a good fight with strength and courage and Dad died of a broken heart.

A private family service was held at Knox United Church on Mon., Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. and a public memorial service was held at the Castor Community Hall at 2 p.m. with Rev. Barbara Zimmerman officiating.

Vern and Shirley were laid to rest at the Castor Cemetery.  Family and friends gathered in the Castor Community Hall for a time of fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the Knox United Church Women.  Donations may be made in their memory to Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital Foundation Extended Care or the Paintearth Lodge.
