How to build community spirit: Recruit sponsors of a free meal, throw open the doors, and invite anyone who has anything to do with making Trochu a better place to live.

The Town of Trochu and Kneehill Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) used that formula Wed. Oct. 17, at the community centre, to stage the town’s annual community showcase.

The showcase, coupled with the annual Flapjack Fiesta, featured information stations, sports sign up opportunities, raffles, law enforcement, weight loss and more — for a total of 27 exhibitors.

To add to that, 17 town and area sponsors for the annual Flapjack Fiesta and door prizes were on-scene.

An evening breakfast welcomed more than 300 visitors as well.
