Alivia Gerlinger (15) loves, really, really loves musical theatre said Jamie Gerlinger, Alivia’s mother in an email to the ECA Review.

Alivia reached out all on her own to Starkid Productions in Illinois, U.S., to the owners of the play called ‘The Trail to Oregon!’ regarding purchasing the rights to perform their play in Drumheller, Alta. And all of the many other requirements, including securing the Kaleidoscope Theatre as a venue and event insurance.

“It has been a very exciting endeavour and now Alivia is producing, directing and acting in the play ‘The Trail to Oregon’, said Jamie.

This play is a musical comedy about America’s first family road trip in a covered wagon and all the chaos that could happen on such a journey.

The play was written as a parody to the video game – The Oregon Trail. The script is a PG13 which is a tamer script than the videos on YouTube of this play.

Avivia held auditions in November and the cast of six have been hard at rehearsing for the two-hour production to be held Feb. 16 – 18.

There are four performances scheduled for the Feb. 16 – 18 weekend.
