Saturday, Sept. 30 was an amazing day for female hockey in our community!

The day started at 9 a.m. with ice sessions led by the Olds College Broncos and Edmonton Wolves Jr. female hockey teams. Off-ice sessions in nutrition, dryland training and team building were led by local volunteers and the Edmonton team and supported by the Olds girls.

Sixty-four female players attended the sessions from 5 – 16 years of age in all skill levels.

The Olds team did a mini-game at 5 p.m. with the U15 girls followed by the Broncos and the Wolves playing an action-packed exhibition game that was well attended!

The event was hosted in Castor at the Beaver Dome by Castor Minor Sports and the Town of Castor in conjunction with volunteers from the 3C’s U13 and U15 female teams.

The day was made possible by the World Female Hockey Day grant and Hockey Alberta with over 30 local volunteers and hockey parents and numerous generous donations.

The Edmonton and Olds teams were amazing with our kids and the day was a huge success!
