Each evening featured a roast beef supper supplied by Food with Flair from Viking. An attendee commented, “the food was fantastic”; another referred to it as “magnificent”. There were door prizes including the grand prize – a $1,000 trip voucher – won by Ernie Tschetter of Hardisty.
Entertainment was provided by Wally Glimm and his daughter, Lisa, with a special performance on Friday evening by Randy Hollar – the modern day Wilf Carter.
Wally Glimm, event promoter said “they were very, very happy with the event, although disappointed with attendance numbers on Saturday.” We had people attend from as far away as Thorsby, Wainwright and Drumheller.
Glimm was born and raised northwest of Millet and continues to live there. “Music has always been part of my life” said Glimm, “but ten years ago, I decided to start singing for fun.”
Glimm believes in giving back to those communities where they perform. All liquor sale proceeds from the two performances were turned over to the Village of Hardisty to be used by the maintenance department in replacing a quonset roof.
