Wendy Luella Ellis
Oct. 8, 1946 ~ Jan. 23, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wendy Ellis. Wendy was born in Camrose, Alta. and grew up on the family farm north of Erskine, Alta. She attended Grades 1-9 in Erskine School and high school at Wm. E. Hay in Stettler, Alta.

Wendy worked closely with her mom and dad – Ruth and Cecil Robinson on the farm, including loading bales, mink farming, milking and showing their prized Guernsey dairy herd.

Once Cecil bought an expensive well-bred bull calf – Wendy was halter-breaking it for the Calgary Stampede show. The bull was resisting her training and acting up. Wendy picked up a stick and gave the bull a sharp rap on the head. Down he went! No bull to win at the Calgary Stampede!

Wendy loved to play second base with Pony’s girls ball team. She was their secret weapon! Any ball thrown by the catcher was caught and she tagged the runners out. Very few were ever safe on second base.

Wendy and Gilbert were married in August of 1965.

Her passions in life included gardening, weaving, painting and quilting. She was 4-H leader for the years the girls were in the Erskine Multi-Purpose Club.

Gilbert and Wendy had a holiday trailer on a golf course near Sylvan Lake, Alta. for years, enjoying the good life golfing with friends. They travelled to many places after retiring to Stettler.

She belonged to many clubs including Kanata WI, Rebecca Lodge, The Red Hats, and Twisted Sisters – where she developed a wide circle of friends.
Wendy is survived by husband Gilbert Ellis; daughters Vicki Ellis and Joanne (Mike) Nielsen and their daughter Michelle (Tyler) Leslie, and Layla, Eva and Henry living in Beaumont, Alta.

Wendy is predeceased by her parents Cecil and Ruth Robinson.
