Council awarded a tender to Titan Sports Systems to complete the rubberized sports flooring replacement within the Stettler Recreation Centre (SRC) for a price of $180,400.
A clause to have the project complete by August 6 was put in place as every day the project is not complete afterwards carries a $500 penalty.
If not completed, hockey players will be unable to attend camps at the SRC among other sports.
On Tues. June 18, Allen King, director of parks and leisure services, mentioned critical areas like the dressing rooms and showers will be done first.
In total, the project replaces 9,000 to 10,000 square feet of flooring.
He updated council on the timeline of the community hall renovations as well as renovations at the SRC noting they are well on their way to completion.
An ordering issue has prevented a local company from finishing the stage lighting but as soon as the item is in they will get it finished.
The curtain switch is in progress as well.
The entire project is not expected to be completed until October.
“We’ve had to do it in phases but I’m quite pleased with how it’s going so far,” said King.
