Donald, Clifford

Enjoyed his hobbies of fishing and gardening
Written by ECA Review

Clifford Donald of Endiang, Alta. was born on the family farm on Oct. 4, 1933.

Clifford Donald

Cliff was the ninth child of 10 children born to James and Jean Donald. He often said he never received a middle name as his parents ran out of names by the time he was born.

Cliff attended Summerhill school for nine years. The school was located on Donald land and the 10 children would walk to school in the summer and often skied during the winter.

The Donald farm was a great place for friends and neighbours to gather for picnics, ball games, horseshoes, skating parties, sleigh rides and many hockey games.

For many years Cliff farmed with bis brother Doug, but later in his life he enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, gardening, watching baseball and visiting with family and friends.

Woodworking was perhaps Cliff’s favourite hobby as he spent countless hours creating treasured keepsakes for his family and friends.

Cliff spent his entire life on the farm until February 2021 when he moved to Paragon Place in Stettler. Cliff was happy at Paragon Place and he immediately made new friends and he appreciated that he no longer had to cook, clean or be alone.

Cliff was predeceased by his parents James and Jean Donald, his brothers Rod, Wilf, Herb, Eddie and Doug as well as sisters Grace Bass, Mary Langston and Beatrice Mohn.

Cliff is survived by his sister Jeanette Hayes and her husband Ken Hayes of Calgary, his sisters-in-law Hilda Donald and Myrna Donald and numerous nephews and nieces.

Cliff passed away on Feb. 6 at the Stettler Hospital at the age of 89. He will be deeply missed by those who had the honour of knowing him.

By Cliff’s request there will be no service, although there will be a graveside and gathering in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.

Condolences can be sent to the family at www.stettlerfuneralhome.com Stettler Funeral Home & Crematorium entrusted with the care and arrangement 403-742-3422.
