Dinosaur Downs Speedway kicks off racing season

A full weekend of races was held at the Dinosaur Downs Speedway, Drumheller on May 13-14. ECA Review/Submitted


Dinosaur Downs Speedway kicked off the racing season with it’s first weekend event on May 13 – 14.
A good quantity of cars came for the opening weekend of the seventh continuous year of racing in Drumheller. Drivers arrived from as far away as Fort St. John, B.C.
The featured cars were the Northern Thunder Late Models which put on a high powered show.
The track standards at every event are the highly competitive I.M.C.A.open-wheeled modified cars and the always popular grassroots hobby stock race cars.
Saturday’s Main Event winners were: Hobby Stocks- #21 Michael Reneau of Calgary.
Late Models- # 55 Mike Tom of Stoney Plain.  I.M.C.A,. Modifieds- #68 Brian Roode of Brooks.
Sunday’s Main Event winners were: Hobby Stocks-# 22 Scott Shaw. Late Models- #55 Mike Tom of Stoney Plain and rounding out the weekend in the I.M.C.A. Modifieds- #62 Kirby Zielinski of Rimbey.
Mike Hansen, president of the Drumheller Ag Society, who operates the track, was pleased with the turn out of volunteers.
