Development plan amendment denied by summer villages

The Summer Village of White Sands and the Summer Village of Rochon Sands rejected a request submitted by the County of Stettler No. 6, on Fri. Feb. 14 to amend the Buffalo Lake South Shore Intermunicipal Development Plan (BLSSIDP) to allow for 325 RV units on the lands located at NE 20-40-20 W4.

The County of Stettler formally requested an amendment to increase the allowable density from 168 to 325 dwelling units at NE 20-40-20 W4.

The Summer Village of Rochon Sands communicated they would be open to discussing a formal review process of the BLSSIDP in whole or part, with regards to amending the density levels in both the BLIDP and the BLSSIDP prior to any proposed changes or amendments.

Presently, the Buffalo Lake Intermunicipal Development Plan (BLIDP) already allows for the current density request of 325 units by the County of Stettler for the lands located at NE 20-40-20 W4M.

The BLIDP members include the County of Stettler, the Summer Villages of White Sands and Rochon Sands, the County of Lacombe and the County of Camrose.

The BLSSIDP restricts the density of this site to 168 units. Members of the BLSSIDP include the County of Stettler, the Summer Villages of Rochon Sands and the Summer Village of White Sands.

Council for the County of Stettler will review the Summer Villages’ responses and consider next steps.
