Delia Councillor steps down

Delia Coun. Dawn Bancroft has stepped down from Village Council for personal reasons.

A by-election will be scheduled at the next council meeting set to take place next week on Wed. Mar. 13.

Elections are handled under the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and the Local Authorities Election Act.

Municipalities are required to hold a by-election within 90 days of the councillor’s resignation while the Local Authorities Election Act states how the nomination process works.

Once the date for the by-election is set, the Village will accept applications up to six weeks prior to this date so people have time to submit their paperwork and campaign.

Anyone interested in the position will have an approximate two and a half week window to submit their paperwork.
