The Community Capacity Building Award was presented to the Village of Delburne FCSS – Cooking With Seniors Program at the Alberta Recreation & Parks Association 2018 ChooseWell Healthy Community Awards held in Jasper, Ab. on Oct. 25, 2018.

The criteria of this award focuses on increasing the community’s ability to take ownership and action to improve healthy living by building on existing resources, strengths and opportunities in the community.

The Delburne Cooking with Seniors (55+) Program has fostered a sense of community and fellowship and is helping to connect and engage our seniors in healthy living and social inclusion.

Cooking together provides an opportunity for seniors to gather and cook healthy meals while socializing and learning more about the importance of nutrition while ageing.

The success of this program has seen that interpersonal relationships have been strengthened in many ways.
