The Czar Quilting Guild had 285 quilts on display at their 12th Annual Show in Czar, Alberta on October 25 – 26, with over 500 people attending.
The guild has members from numerous towns including Czar, Wainwright, Hardisty, Provost, Brownfield, Lougheed, Hughenden, Amisk, Alliance, Lacombe, Paradise Valley, Coronation, Sedgewick and Martenville, Saskatchewan.
The Czar Quilting Guild is known for it’s beautiful displays and many talents. This is a very creative group. People travel from all over Alberta each year to see their amazing work. Their first show was in 2001.
The quilts are known for their intricate detail. Antique doors, old barn wood, a pair of old skates, an old bike, an antique bed and the list goes on. Something different is noticed each time you make a round in the hall, where the quilts are displayed like art pieces. Many artists were showcasing pencil drawings, paintings and other art forms in addition to the quilts.
