CPRA begins 2019 season in Red Deer

The Canadian Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) kicked off their first bull riding event of the year at Westerner Park in Red Deer on Sat. Jan. 12.

A large crowd filled up the stands as they witnessed the Rebel Energy Services Bull Riding event.

Garrett Green of Meeting Creek and Shane Peters of Delburne tied for third with 84 points during the long go, securing $998.25 each.

Cadogan’s Billy West came in at 83 points, snagging $544.50 in cash and fifth place.

The top 10 athletes advanced to the short-go round.

During the short-go, Green maintained third place after scoring 86 points.

In total, Green made 170 points on two head, making $1754.50 and earning the top spot in the average.

Peters was bucked off in the second round, holding him at sixth in the average.

Big Stone Rodeo Inc. and Darin Eno of Coronation were among the stock contractors for the event.
