Paintearth county council
The County of Paintearth was advised that the Agricultural Service Board was approved for an allocation of $183,359.46 for the 2016 grant year, reported Chief Administrative Officer Tarolyn Aaserud to council at their last regular meeting on Tues., Aug. 16
This amount includes $168,359.46 for the Legislative Funding Stream and $15,000 for the Environmental Funding Stream.
County sponsorship to be reviewed
Following a request for sponsorship from the Stettler Bantam Scorpion baseball team, council decided that the County Policy 480 Recreation and Community Service Grants needs to be brought back for review.
The Scorpions hosted provincials in Stettler for Tier 5 on the August long weekend.
Four members on the Stettler Scorpions are from the County of Paintearth.
The county gave the baseball team the standard $500 sponsorship funds as per the current county policy.
Cancellation of property tax penalties
Council received a request from Rally Canada Resources Ltd. for an exemption of $634.14 in penalties that they received July 1, 2016.
Rally Canada Resources mailed their cheque to the County on July 29, 2016.
Council denied their request and asked they be supplied with information on alternative methods of payment, such as the Tax Installment Payment Plan for next year.
