Council allocating funds to technical support, training hours

In a short meeting on Tues. Dec. 8, council chose to move some funds around in support of tech related help and training hours.

ISDAB bylaw

The Palliser Regional Municipal Services has been moving forward with an Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (ISDAB) to assist municipalities by providing a pool of trained clerks and panellists in the one to two hearings that take place per year.

Delia council passed second and third reading of this bylaw to join.

Historial grant

The Delia and District Dawson Historical Society are applying for a grant application and have been asking municipalities including the Village of Delia and Starland County.

Council passed a motion to provide a letter of support in their quest for funding towards the solidification of Canada’s first female mayor, Violet Barss of Delia.

Coming from the East Central region getting this newspaper on her dinner table growing up, it helped her understand the community she now serves.

In May 2019, Terri was awarded Alberta Weekly Newspaper Association (AWNA) Canada's Energy Citizens Photographic Awards Sports Action – First Place as well as first for the same sports action image nationally with the Canadian Community Newspaper Association (CCNA). Fast forward to 2020, she has won second in the same category for the AWNA.
