Coronation Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Shrove Tuesday pancake supper was once again served at the Coronation United Church, after a break of two years due to the pandemic. Marie Woody was one a many who did the cooking and cleanup. Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day is the day before Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent), observed in many Christian countries through participating in confession and absolution. Pancakes are traditional in a number of European countries because eggs, sugar and fat, commonly forbidden during the Lenten fast, are used up so they will not go to waste.
