Coronation RCMP executed a search warrant on the business “Schlosser Small Engines”, in Coronation, Alta. owned and operated by Zane Preston Schlosser on Aug. 25 at 11:27 a.m due to an ongoing investigation into stolen property.
As a result RCMP have seized 92 items, which included stolen motorbikes, ATVs, side by sides, golf carts, riding lawnmowers and grading equipment.
While the search warrant was being executed, over 20 people attended the business looking for items they had been unable to retrieve from Zane Preston Schlosser. With proof of ownership, these items were returned to the owners.
RCMP have charged Zane Preston Schlosser (43), resident of Coronation, with false pretenses over $5000, and under five counts of false pretenses under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and nine counts under $5,000, three counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of fraudulent/misleading receipts.
Schlosser was released on an undertaking with conditions. His next court appearance is set for Oct. 13, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the Alberta Court of Justice in Coronation.

Weapon and drug-related offences
Cody Severin, Dale Thomas Clark and Kareen Lynn Severin were released on an undertaking with conditions and will appear Sept. 8, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the Alberta Court of Justice in Coronation.
Coronation and Consort RCMP had conducted a search warrant on a residence in the County of Paintearth, Alta. on July 31, 2023 at 1 p.m. in an ongoing firearms investigation
As a result of the search, Coronation RCMP has seized the following items including a handgun with the serial number removed, rifle, brass knuckles, ammunition, two grams of suspected fentanyl; and 0.63 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
RCMP charged Cody Severin (23), resident of the County of Paintearth, with three counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon/firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon/restricted firearm without a license; two counts of careless storage of a firearm; possession of a firearm with the serial number removed; and possession of a controlled substance.
Coronation RCMP has also charged Dale Thomas Clark (70) and Kareen Lynn Severin (56), residents of the County of Paintearth, with three counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon/firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon/restricted firearm without a license; and two counts of careless storage of a firearm.
Impaired drivers caught
The Hanna RCMP investigated two instances of impaired driving during the past weekend.
In the first incident, Hanna RCMP were called for a report of a 26-year-old male who was observed drinking at a local licensed establishment in Hanna, then getting into the driver’s seat of a vehicle, just after midnight on Aug. 26, 2023. The male was located at his residence by the Hanna RCMP and issued a provincial immediate roadside sanction.
In the second incident, a report of a fight at a local business in the early morning hours of Aug. 27 led to the location of a male behind the wheel of his truck in a parking lot in Hanna. The 25-year-old male was determined to be impaired by alcohol.
In both instances, the drivers were issued $1,000 fines, $200 victim surcharges, 90-day driving suspensions, and 30-day impoundments of their vehicles. Following the driving suspensions, the individuals will have their driver’s licenses suspended for a further 12 months unless they each participate in the Alberta Ignition Interlock Program.
Firearms charges
Vermilion RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of a driveway to a rural residence east of Vermilion, in the County of Vermilion River on Aug. 18 at approximately 12 a.m. Members located the vehicle in question with two occupants who were passed out inside. Investigation revealed two unsecured firearms in the vehicle, one of which was modified so as to make it prohibited.
RCMP arrested and charged both individuals, Bowdrie Patterson (32), a resident of Wainwright, Alta. and Lara Stoyko (33), a resident of Vermilion with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm and failing to comply with release order.
Patterson and Stoyko were brought before a justice of the peace. Stoyko was released on a Release Order with court set for Sept. 18, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion while Patterson was remanded into custody and is set to appear in court on Sept. 12, 2023, at Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.
Drowning
On Sept. 1 Stettler RCMP, along with partnering agencies, have recovered the body of 17-year-old Ajay Purba from Buffalo Lake.
On Aug. 29, 2023, at 4:20 p.m., Stettler RCMP received a report of a possible drowning on Buffalo Lake near Ol’ MacDonalds Resort. Emergency crews including Stettler Fire, STARS air ambulance, and an RCMP drone responded however, were unable to locate the victim for several days.
Stettler RCMP with the assistance of support units and other agencies continued the search for missing Airdrie resident 17-year-old Ajay Purba until his remains were found.
