Our 4-H Beef Club sure has been busy! On February 22 we had our Public Speaking Competition. We started with our speeches and it was followed by supper. After supper, we had impromptus.
The placings were as follows: Junior: 1st Rayanna Ramsay, 2nd Koryn Duncan and 3rd Aiden Kobi. Intermediate: first Ryley Ramsay, second Kyla Duncan and third Jessica Kuwzi. Senior: first Eric Rodvang, second Corey Twa and third Jenna Sieger.
Semi District speeches were held in Brownfield and Rayanna Ramsay placed 3rd in the junior category and Eric Rodvang was awarded 1st in the senior category. District Public Speaking was held in Castor where Rayanna Ramsay placed 3rd and she went to Regionals in Sedgewick.
On Saturday April 27 we had a “Mock Achievement Day” at Dryland Trading in Veteran. We attended three clinics. One was about clipping and grooming and it was presented by Leanne Carfantan.
We also took part in a judging clinic and it was presented by Maureen Mappin-Smith. Our showmanship clinic was presented by Curtis Perry. Our group of 31 members enjoyed the warm sunny day and learned a lot, which will be put to good use at our club and district shows.
On Sunday, May 5 we had our highway clean up on Highway 872. We also collected used batteries for a fundraiser.
We are working hard to get our calves ready for the club show and district show on June 4 – 5 in Coronation.  The results of the shows will be coming soon.
