Consort RCMP charge female with drug and weapon-related offences

Consort and Coronation RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in the Village of Consort, Alberta, as part of an ongoing drug investigation at 4 p.m. on July 28, 2023.

The search resulted in the seizure of various illegal items, including 15,000 illegal cigarettes, 198 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 60 grams of suspected fentanyl, 51 grams of suspected cocaine, 10 grams of suspected heroin, 3 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 750 ml of suspected MDMA (Ecstasy), 126 grams of suspected LSD, 31 grams of assorted prescribed pills, Canadian currency, a shotgun, and assorted weapons.

As a result of the investigation and the evidence found during the search, the Consort RCMP have charged a 44-year-old woman named Melodie Joy Torraville, who is a resident of Consort, with multiple drug and weapon-related offences. The charges include possession of a controlled substance (2 counts), possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance (5 counts), possession of tobacco product without an excise stamp, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a prohibited device, careless storage of a firearm, and failure to comply with a release order (22 counts).

Melodie Joy Torraville was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and subsequently remanded into custody. She is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice on August 2, 2023.
