Community trail development in Mirror will proceed

Written by Cheryl Bowman

Lacombe County council approved the creation of the community trail proposed by the Mirror Community Network during the meeting on Thurs. Jan 26.

The project was initiated in the fall of 2022 when the Mirror Community Network proposed the creation of a trail around Mirror with a north loop and a south loop on either side of Highway 50.

While portions of the trail will be using existing sidewalks and developed areas some portions of the trail will pass through currently undeveloped areas which will require work to be done for the trail to be functional.

The trail is something the county is very excited to be able to provide for Mirror, said Reeve Barb Shepherd.

“By supporting the creation of the Mirror community trail, we are working with our residents to build a new way to explore nature and live healthier lives.”

Work on the project will start by the end of February with crews starting on brushing the trail route.

Landowners who may be impacted by the development will be contacted prior to when construction begins.
