Community newspapers donation ‘survival’ portal

Written by Submitted

We have and continue to receive an outpouring of community support from our ‘symbolic’ subscriptions and through unsolicited donations.  Our readers continue to confirm they want their newspaper in hand.

We are encouraged by this outpouring of gratitude for the work we do and therefore have found an opportunity where we can give back.

The ECA Review has recently joined a donation portal of the Ontario Community Newspapers Foundation (OCNF), which has supported Ontario newspapers since 1986.

The OCNF recently opened up their foundation to facilitate the distribution of charitable, tax-deductible donations to all community newspapers across the country.

All donations are used strictly for journalists to report on local news.

The ECA Review is doing everything it can to keep delivering the highest quality of local news through a limited distribution of our print edition, and through our website and social media pages on Facebook and Twitter.

Our local journalism plays a critical role in providing trusted and valuable information to our rural communities, recognition of proud moments such as graduations or sporting wins, and a forum to say a farewell to a lost loved one.

Times are tough for everyone and many in our communities are feeling heartbroken and financially stressed. Even more so, we want to continue reporting local stories and news to our loyal readers.

If you would like to donate directly to the ECA Review’s journalism news coverage and receive a charitable tax receipt, please go to:

Once you choose your donation amount, click NEXT STEP and the drop-down menu will take you to East Central Alberta (ECA) Review (AB).

It’s a long road to recovery and your support will allow us to continue to serve our communities and be here when we get to the other side of Covid-19.

We hope you and your families are safe at this time.
Call or email us any time. We are here for you.
