Recently one of your columnists wrote that she was relieved that PM Trudeau had reinstated the long form census. The only apparent reason for doing so is to reverse every decision that PM Harper had implemented.
I refused to fill out this census many times, receiving threats from fines to imprisonment.
The same columnist recently wrote that the National Rifle Association (NRA) and Donald Trump were using the Fourth Amendment to stymie gun control.
The first is that the Second Amendment gives Americans the right to keep and bear arms, the Fourth Amendment protects them against unlawful search and seizure.
She rightly condemned the Nazis for their actions but neglected the fact that one of their first acts was to enact gun registration, which the Jews complied with. The next step was confiscation which left them defenceless when the Schutzstaffel (SS), a major paramilitary organization under Adolf Hitler, meaning “protection squadron”, came to take them to the death camps.
She then called the AR15 a war gun, it is the civilian version of the military rifle, wrongly termed by the uninformed as an assault rifle.
The Obama administration carries on this error but reclassified the same gun in the hands of Homeland Security as a personal defence weapon (PDW).
