Barb Cheney passed away peacefully on March 24, 2021 at the Long-Term Care facility in Hanna at the age of 79.

Barb was born on Oct. 10, 1941 to George and Daisy Hansen, one of seven children, on the family farm at Square Deal, Alta.

She was a devoted wife to Ralph and mother of five children. 

She enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, quilting, baking and her flowers. 

In her earlier years, she enjoyed softball and was a strong supporter of her boy’s pursuits in hockey. 

Barb really enjoyed curling, golfing, fishing and waterskiing as well as being an avid sports fan. 

Barb and her husband Ralph travelled to various destinations after retiring. 

She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving us beautiful memories.

Barb was deeply loved by her family and all that knew her. 

Barb is survived by her children Anne (Terry) Dell, Gordon (Donna) Cheney, Brad (Sheri) Cheney, Troy Cheney, and Leasa (Brad) Zukewich. 

She is also survived by her grandchildren Melissa (Jarret) Sperling, Heather (Scott) Jeschke, Mike (Nikki) Dell, Shannon (Josh) Hoetmer, Russ (Shayla) Cheney, Ashley Cheney, Terri (Tyler) Cheney, Jamie (Grady) Cheney, Katelyn Zukewich, Madison Zukewich and six great-grandchildren. 

Also surviving are sister’s Elsie Munro and Virginia Collins, sister-in-law’s Linda Hansen and Ev Cheney, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband Emil Radke and later her second husband of 49 years, Ralph Cheney; parents George and Daisy Hansen, sisters Jean Griffith, Gwen Spence, Georgia Spence, and brother David Hansen.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private ceremony was held for family on Thurs. April 1, 2021. 

Interment will occur at the Hanna Cemetery at a later date.
