The 35 & Up Canadian National Baseball Championships held August 2 – 5 in Edmonton started off Friday for the Lougheed Wildcats at noon with a wet rainy game against Scarborough Maroons. They lost 12 – 6 but followed that game with a six o’clock game against the Bardo (Ab.) Athletics and won 11 – 4. Saturday Lougheed played Calgary Chinook and won 12 – 2 in six innings. Due to odd tiebreaker rules, the Wildcats were put into tier 2 and were very disappointed to see Bardo go into tier 1. Sunday woke up to play at 9:15 against Kindersley with a win, 6 – 3. The final game against the Regina Drifters saw a loss 3 – 1. The Lougheed Wildcats are looking forward to chasing the championship next year out in Brampton, Ontario.
