On July 13 the Castor Arena will host a concert called “Castor Rocks!” featuring an ACDC tribute band from Toronto named “THUNDERSTRUCK”. The event has been dubbed as the “Bashin’ the Beaverdome”
THUNDERSTRUCK is billed as Canada and North America’s number one ACDC tribute band. The band has shared the stage in Alberta with star recording acts such as: Trooper, BTO and Loverboy where Thunderstruck was reviewed to have  “stole the show” for their sound, vocals, and overall stage performance.
Event Chair Todd Pawsey gave them top marks in showmanship for their level of engagement with the crowd during their shows.
“Their look, their music and characters… are spot on with ACDC. If you close your eyes and listen, you’d think it was the real thing,” said Pawsey.
“And Rich – their “Angus” – puts on a real treat for the crowd, you have to see it,” added Pawsey.
Thunderstruck will not be alone on stage. Cold Tie Walker, a classic rock band with a hint of blues from Bonnyville, Alberta will be performing before them.
Cold Tie Walker is a frequent headliner at many Alberta and Saskatchewan music festivals. They play a mix of recognizable classics from Johnny Cash and Led Zeppelin to Billy Idol or the Tragically Hip.
The concert has been in the making for many years and it will coincide with the slo-pitch/baseball tournament and high school reunion in Castor on the same weekend.
Tickets are on sale for $25 and the show starts at 7 p.m. and goes till 1 a.m.
“We kept the price reasonable. We want people to come out and bring their friends, their block, their neighbourhood … to have a great night out,” said Pawsey.
“As a fundraiser for the Castor Minor Sports programs, we also wanted an event that the parents and volunteers can have fun at and show their support at the same time. Our small towns don’t often get to put this on, so we are hopeful the area will turn out in support,” continued Pawsey.
Tickets for those 18 or older are available in Castor at the recreation office and the Castor UFA and in Coronation at Golby Hardware. Stettler ticket outlets include CR Glass, and Pfeiffer Music.
Committee members will also have tickets for sale, check out the Facebook page at ‘Castor Rocks! “Thunderstruck” is Bashin’ the Beaverdome!’ or call the recreation office at 403-882-3225.
