The Castor Crush under 14 Girls softball team defeated Calgary SNR Rampage 17 – 11 in a game on Sun. June 30 to take them to the Monday finals.

Considered an underdog team, the Crush had battled their way to the finals against the Bonnyville Angels. However, the game was delayed and ultimately cancelled due to windy and rainy conditions.

The final match date and place is slated for this week in a community halfway between Castor and Bonnyville, Alta.

The Crush hosted the Provincial ‘C’ Championship Canada Day weekend at the Castor Kingsman Sports grounds.

“It’s been a very well organized tournament,” said Penny Vincett, a Castor parent.

Tanya Slemp added, “We have had lots of compliments – just been a very fun weekend watching these kids play.”

The 2019 U14 Girls C Provincial Championships consisted of 12 Alberta teams ranging from Bonnyville to Coledale, Alta.

“Amazing ball – the talent of the girls 14 and under seems to get better every year,’’ said Ardrossan A’s parent, Carla Berry.
