Castor council learns of no PeeWee teams this year

The ice is going into the arena around October 9, 2012 advised Councillor Jeff Ensign at the regular council meeting held on Monday, September 10, 2012.  There will be both boy and girl Bantam hockey teams, but no PewWee teams this winter.
Council received a copy of the 2012 preliminary equalized property assessment. Overall the assessment will increase just over $4 million.  All areas will see a slight increase, except farmland.  The preliminary figures suggest an increase of approximately six per cent in residential, eight per cent in commercial, and one per cent in linear assessment.

The town maintenance staff continues to focus on hole-patching, only the large holes are left. Three more blocks of sidewalk will be completed. Values and hydrants are to be changed out on the west end of Town this fall.
Pool depth markers and pool steps were the two issues raised during the pool inspection.  The pool is currently being winterized and a new pump installed. A motion was passed to raise the private swim lesson rate from $15 per hour to $25 per hour for the 2013 season.
On October 1st, the Public Works Department will change to winter hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).  Office hours remain at the 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
