Castor budget on track

Council was presented with the cash statement and budget comparison at their regular meeting, Sept. 14, for the month ending Aug. 31, 2015 and continues to operate in a good financial position. with a few grants yet to come in and at this point the budget appears to be solidly on track.

Choosewell

Council received correspondence informing them that Castor is currently participating in the communities Choosewell program which is a healthy eating, active living initiative of the Alberta Recreation and Parks, funded by Alberta Health.

Environmental sampling

Tetra Tech, on behalf of the Department of Transportation, will be drilling and installing groundwater monitoring wells near the highway maintenance yard.

Scholarships

Fourteen scholarships for $500.00 each were approved for students continuing their education at a college/university level at the recent Ag Society meeting  in addition to the rodeo committee receiving $5,000.00 to help cover expenses.
